University of Illinois System Shared GitHub Service
All departments and employees within the U of I System now have access to a shared, enterprise wide, GitHub license. The Shared Service provides enterprise-wide GitHub licenses and it includes:
- Licenses for everyone (Staff, Faculty & Students) at all three campuses and hospital
- Unlimited public, private and internal repositories
- Unlimited collaborators
- Unlimited number of Organizations or Teams we create in GitHub
- Pages and Wikis
- Service level agreement for 99.95% monthly uptime
Benefits of the Shared Service are:
- Provide a platform for university collaboration
- Reduce cost for existing users and make GitHub accessible to new users
- Provide a way to promote U of I System open source projects, both internally and to a larger external audience
- Improve security by providing a shared GitHub platform that follows a standard set of security policies
- Contribute to students’ success by allowing them to easily collaborate using GitHub
